How to organize a file storage site?

I have an ftp with my files and a website (I'm looking at Wordpress cms at the moment) where I can post links with descriptions and versions of files to download from ftp.
Tell me how to organize the relevance of links on the site with what is stored on ftp? The plugins supplied by this CMS are nothing more than beautiful links to the required file, but they are not updated in any way if the data on ftp changes.
