How to optimize wordpress template?

Good afternoon, I recently came up with an idea to get a magazine, I thought that the fastest option would be to buy a template, it worked pretty fast on the developer's website, after I bought it I read wonderful lines that if you want to optimize the template, pay us another 65 bucks and we will speed it up, but after using the template and eliminating a bunch of bugs from the developer, for some reason I don’t really want to pay him again, it’s probably easier to find another developer, but the question is whether someone wants to dig into someone else’s template, or do it yourself, where I have so far stopped.
The template is incredibly heavy and takes a terribly long time to load, if possible, I compressed the individual scripts that the developer used into one script, compressed css, but this is all with a pitchfork in the water, in addition to custom scripts and styles, there are still a lot of scripts from plugins loaded, what not to do with them I know.
The main page is very heavy, the output of blocks is carried out through the visual composer, in the footer there is an output of calls to the database, there are about 420 of them, some kind of tin until super cache is activated, it seems to me early that xcache is configured on the server, gzip was like, but it’s not helps, the main boot is terribly long.
Maybe for one thing, tell me why nothing happens for about 4 seconds, I refresh the page and the wait parameter in the tests shows 4s, what does this mean? what happens for 4 seconds, nothing or something.

Give practical advice on what to do, there is a lot of information on optimization on the network, most of them write the same thing and install the super cache to reduce database requests.
I tried cdn cloudflare, connected it, adjusted the trial, but it feels like it got even slower, some specific service is very, it doesn’t distribute pictures on the trial, only static compression works, from which I didn’t feel any difference.
It probably makes sense to give scripts, styles and pictures through cdn, will this be useful?
In general, the questions are as follows:
1. Is it possible to somehow connect all styles and scripts from plugins in one place.
2. Probably there is a trial cdn where you can unload all the statics with pictures for verification.
3. What else can be done.
4. Is it possible to somehow compress images in the wp admin panel, or in some other way.

@AntonEssential

the default template weighs little, it always loads quickly. Yes, apparently you need to do caching on the hosting.
