How to optimize Ubuntu for a netbook?

Greetings !
I put ubuntu on the netbook, but it slows down in places, especially when you open the super menu. Please help optimize it.

Demolish the unit and install a lighter Desktop Environment. For example XFCE or LXDE. Or assemble with your own hands from a window manager and a socket. For example Fluxbox + tint2. Or install a tile window manager like i3 . He is flying.

You can turn off background blur via Unity Tweak Tool should be less buggy. You can also put ClassicMenu Indicator to launch applications.

You need to put the proprietary driver on the vidyahu. If it's not an Intel integrashka.

Eh, I remember I had Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Edition on my netbook. The system was excellent, fast, reliable, but outdated, unfortunately.
