How to optimize PhpStorm when running over sshfs?

There is simply no strength, PhpStorm periodically freezes when working on sshfs. Do I have one?
Moreover, if, for example, you rename a folder with a large number of files in the tree, then it generally freezes.
It is especially infuriating when it writes during operation that files are being indexed in node_modules, although the folder is added to excluded in the settings ... Then what does this excluded do if it indexes anyway?
In general, I don’t understand something, are there any ways to optimize the work of PhpStorm over sshsf, or it’s better not to use it for this at all. Thank you.
