How to optimize OpenCart 1.5.4.1 base?

There is an opencart store. So far only 500 items have been uploaded. But the database takes almost 60MB.
Of these, the volume of data is about 40 mb and the volume of indexes is 20 mb. How can I clean the indexes? since the goods were deleted several times and added again via CSV, it seems that this is why the indexes take up so much space.
And another question: in the admin panel through System-> Backups, the database backup is normally downloaded, but if you try to import the database, the error "Uploaded file is empty!"
