How to open a terminal in vim?

It's been more than two years since I switched to vim with all the necessary plugins.
I think it would be nice to open a terminal at the bottom of vim in order to quickly install npm packages and observe errors during development.
Switching tabs is not convenient.
At the moment I can open the terminal with :term. But getting out of it without a mouse does not work.
Please tell me how to keep the hsplit terminal constantly open, and switch from it to the vim window and back. Also interested in how to open it with the required number of lines by default, so that not 50%, but the desired size.
PS: I use vim, not neovim

Keyboard shortcuts for working with windows:

ctrl-w-w # к следующему окну
ctrl-w-h # к окну слева
ctrl-w-j # к окну снизу
ctrl-w-k # к окну сверху
ctrl-w-l # к окну справа

There are many useful combinations.
By default, the option is responsible for the size of the terminal: termwinsize
:help terminal It is described in more than detail there.
PS register matters.
