How to open a local website on Debian?

I'm learning a web server, installed vagrant and installed the debian image.
I figured out how it works, went to the server and sort of installed everything that was needed for the site.
Debian 10, ngnix, php-fpm , mariadb.
My goal is to set up a local Wordpress site.
Set up according to these instructions.

The question of such a plan. I created the site
site.local - but how to get into it now? Do I need to register an IP somewhere? how the browser knows what to look for instead of searching the Internet for a local site.
