How to monetize a gaming site?

There is a fan site for one RPG game with the following characteristics:

  • the site is in the top (1-3 position, depending on the search engine)
  • Russian site
  • site for people, a lot of unique content
  • other sites (competitors) for this game have long been abandoned
  • The site is about 8 years old .
  • registered on the site ~ 97 000 users
  • about 500,000 posts on the forum
  • attendance in the region of 2000 people / day
  • indexed pages in google - 11500 , in Yandex - 44618
  • TIC 40
  • from the site there is also a group in VK for 9500 subscribers

At the moment, only AdSense is worth advertising, the income from it is about $ 0.2 per day, I don’t know if it’s a lot or a little? Can performance be improved? How to monetize and not lose users? There is no way to sell any materials related to the game on the site.

Specify what are the ctr indicators and what is the cost per click?
* Unique content is only available to certain user groups. Those. newreg will not be able to read about how to quickly farm loot in the top way. (In general, content segmentation. Access to the most unique and valuable content is provided by subscription (monthly) or by purchasing a group. Let's say the VIP group reads everything without restrictions.)
*Use targeting in the sense. (the click rate will be higher)
*Increase the number of ad units.
* "Cooperation" with direct advertisers. You need to find an advertiser who will be interested in your audience and advertise it, the profitability will be higher.
* Wrap links to download files in services like adf.
ly (
With
viewing ads, i.e. when clicking on the download link, the user will first watch the ad and then download) clicks on ads on your site. (Since a normal CTR is considered to be no more than 2-3% of the total mass, it turns out that you can easily have up to 40-50 clicks on ads per day. (In a sense, I get 20 cents per click from my site), with in such a calculation you should receive about $ 8 per day.)
** Annoying pop-up advertising that cuts the soul and gouges out the eyes.
Anything with * is normal practice. That with ** is not a normal practice, and to use it I recommend to be careful and understand what you are doing. Otherwise, problems may arise.
This is just a small part of what you can think of.

This is very small... You need to experiment with the placement of ad units and make them embedded if they don't already exist...

1. Determine the purpose of your visitors: why do they go to your site (and do they go?...)?
2. Based on the goal: determine the most delicious functionality according to this goal and distribute it by shares: 1/5 (paid) to 4/5 (free).
3. Don't forget to encourage those who pay: bonuses, etc.
4. Well, don't forget about advertising either.

experiment with blocks.. $0.2 for 2000 is very little, I get 300-500 traffic from search engines and somewhere around $0.5 - $1.5 per day drips..
and don't listen to everyone here about 2000 it's 0) with such traffic and the right approaches may not be big but make good money.

YAN+ADSENSE+ video advertising , I have it like that. If Rsya brought more today, then the rest less)) Video advertising is almost always stable. Because pay for impressions and do not take the visitor away from the site.
