Usually they don’t like to give difficult tasks to juniors (which is quite logical), but they often give routine tasks.

The question is - how can a junior understand that he is growing, and not marking time, drowning in a routine? How to measure "growth"? How to understand that growth is not too slow? What are the signs that you are growing slowly?

In the amount of documentation read?
In the number of newfangled frameworks that you could feel?
In the number of lines written per week?
In the amount of communication between colleagues?
In the complexity of the tasks solved?
