How to maximize laptop battery capacity?

It is not clear to me how the continuation of the charge after a full charge affects the battery. I'm starting to worry about the battery in my laptop because I remember how the battery on the phone lost capacity very quickly and strongly when I kept it on charge all the time. Charger original. How to keep battery capacity as long as possible? If I'm near an electrical outlet, should I unplug it? Or are there built-in programs to turn off battery power? What principles do you use?

The battery is a consumable
Just buy a new one
If the battery began to sag in 12 months - contact the service center

You can keep the battery as long as possible on the shelf of the cabinet.
Useful advice - in 2018, do not worry at all. Just use.
When the battery is not enough - take it out and either replace it with a new one (by that time it would be nice to start earning enough to buy a battery for yourself), or from the network.

Less use, try to always keep the power cord connected, and never discharge to zero. Recharge cycles for conventional laptops according to those. a little passport, 100-200 probably no more, in the user manual they often write how much

The battery degrades under the influence of many factors. For a battery in a laptop, the number of charge-discharge cycles, overcharging (if the battery controller in the laptop is poorly designed or defective), and overheating are mainly critical. The influence of all three factors is reduced if you remove the battery from the laptop and keep it in a charged state when using the laptop as a desktop device, connected to an outlet. In this case, the heat from the insides of the laptop will not affect the battery at all, the controller will not have a chance to either turn up the voltage or start repeating charge cycles when it (especially when it is already a little worn out) will "sag" under the influence of self-discharge.
The idea that the battery is a consumable is technically correct, but this does not mean at all that everyone is obliged to follow it literally. If you don't mind taking out the battery - take it out, if someone will judge you for it, offer him to personally buy batteries for you when needed. The adviser will quickly evaporate.

Modern laptops use lithium polymer batteries, a good thing but has drawbacks:
a strong discharge is unacceptable, overcharging is unacceptable, long-term storage in a discharged form (even by 40%) is unacceptable. But do not panic, in phones and laptops, all batteries are equipped with a special discharge charge controller, which will stop the discharge in time and turn off the charge. Those. you only need to charge the battery in time, do not wait until it is completely discharged. As for laptops, make it a rule to always use an outlet (220V) if available. Everything else is either legends or atavisms left over from the era of nickel-manganese batteries.
