How to mark a message as unread?

In all versions, VK found the "mark unread" function in dialogs, but did not find a special method in the API for this. tried messages.markAsRead with mark_conversation_as_read=0 field, didn't work. How then through the API to do this?

Private messages are also marked as unread.
