How to manage product balance in Magento warehouse?

There is magento 1.9... The problem is the following. There are products that have a bunch of options. For example pencils. There is blue, there is black, red and a million more options. Sold individually. How to set up inventory management? Now I can only set stock availability in general, i.e. There are 500 pencils in total. And how to specify how many of each color?
I’ve already broken my whole head and tortured Google, I can’t find how to do it, even shoot myself. It may not be possible to do this with standard tools.

Create simple goods (simple) like red pencil, blue pencil, green pencil, etc. You put down the quantity in the warehouse, then create a Configurable (configurable, configurable) product and enter a general description and add those very simple ones to the related products, now on the product page you have options for choosing a color and everything is taken into account in the warehouse.
