How to manage audio output channels in Android smartphone?

I wanted to shoot timelapse, and then I discovered that my camera (Sony nex-c3) does not provide absolutely any possibility of remote control, i.e. does not have a connector for the remote control or an infrared port. However, after a little thought, I realized that this is not a problem - the camera has long been out of warranty, and the solution is obvious - to make a connector for the remote control on my own, and bring the contacts from the shutter button to it.
Next, I thought about the remote. At first I wanted to use a standard remote from some system, like this 1858867358.jpgone, with the subsequent alteration of the connector, but you need to find and buy it first. And then an idea came to my mind: what if you use an Android smartphone as a remote control?
And this is where my question came up:is it possible in android to programmatically control channels in a standard audio jack designed to connect a headset (headphones + microphone with a button)? Specifically, is it possible to programmatically "close" any 2 channels in this connector to each other?

It looks like the issue is being resolved. Everything has already been invented before us , you just need to google it properly.
