I installed the latest version of Ubuntu 14.04 on my laptop, at startup I selected my wi-fi, entered the password and the laptop connected, but there is no wi-fi itself. When I go to the browser, the pages are not loaded.

see if the machine has received dhcp settings,
show
ifconfig -a
ping ya.ru
ping 8.8.8.8
