How to make the second monitor work at maximum resolution?

There is an LG FLATRON L222WS monitor, a Toshiba Satellite C660-11W laptop. When connecting a monitor to a laptop, it refuses to work at native resolution (1680x1050), while 1280x1024 works fine. From under Windows the behavior is similar. Tried to install different Modeline nothing helps. I connected it to another computer, everything works fine there and the EDID matches.

You need to change the edid of the monitor. This is done by a parameter in the loader if using early kms or in parameters to the module if using late kms. On old computers, I made a script with xrandr in X startup.
