There can be a lot of different nuances - but still, now the main thing is not in the layout, but in the aggregate of the uniqueness of the content, its quality, quantity and download speed.
In terms of layout - well, run your layout through google PageSpeed Insights, for example, and see what Google recommends - you can do some of this, well, no - it doesn’t matter either, if in general everything is more or less normal.
For example, I try - where possible - to apply lazy loading, use the picture tag for images, make Google happy with optimized images and webp format.
However, all this is not everywhere and not always possible - the layout most often does not live in production by itself, yet it is basically the basis for various cms, for example. But if front-enders can be persuaded to do all this, then try to transfer such a super-duper layout with all the giblets to the backers, and you will hear a lot of good things about yourself.
If you want to clean up the structure, run it with a validator, remove obvious errors, use it as an outliner tool - as already mentioned, one h1 per page, the rest of the headings from h2, for example, in general, see how it will look.
And now the main thing: look at the layout of the main competitor, who is in the very first position. Run with the same tools. Make sure he has us... for everything you've been after for so long.
