How to make reactjs friends with third-party events?

Good day!
I have a legacy singlepage application on jiques that obeys the messages received from the websocket. Messages are processed by their own lib and pushes their own events, to which, in the end, the application responds.
I haven't worked with riact as such yet, but I want to try it. So I’m looking closely ... and I can’t understand how to adequately attach a layout component here (to catch data from outside the component, ) and in the future, if everything is good, the act will accidentally absorb all the rest of the layout.
I will be glad to advice and/or a useful link.
