How to make listview open to full length in alertdialog?

There is an alertdialog with a listview. listview is populated from db. The item in the listview is a checkbox and a couple of textviews. When the dialog is opened, its height is the sum of the number of items in the listview and their height. Since in the xml item-a all textviews are empty, the height is equal to the height of the checkbox-a. Because of this, a dialog with a small height opens and you have to scroll the elements in the list. How to make listview open to full length?
