How to make IntelliJ see JDK on Ubuntu 14.04?
Netbeans was installed on Ubuntu 14.04 (JDK 8 was installed with it), now I'm trying to install Jetbrains IntelliJ from the official site - it does not see the JDK and swears in the terminal that
"No JDK found. Please validate either IDEA_JDK, JDK_HOME or JAVA_HOME environment variable points to valid JDK installation."
What to do?

Instead of installing java manually from the official site, I recommend using ppa.
I have it described here: https://risik.info/?p=439
in this case, you do not have to manually configure environment variables.
