how to make gps tracker in android

There is the usual Main activity. For the test, I made it so that when you click on the text, you switch to another activity, where the gps tracker is. Does the second activity need to do any permissions (except from the user) , inheritance (except for LocationListener and AppCompatActivity) to work with gps?
