How to make collapsing into clusters smoother in Google Maps?

Hello. Now there are a lot of markers on my Google map, so I decided to optimize them by collapsing neighboring markers into clusters. I use Google Maps, so I immediately got to see their dock: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/j...

But the clusters they offer are just awful! First, they disappear during zooming. Secondly, the collapse process itself is sharp, without animation. Is it possible to somehow make clusters more attractive, as, for example, is done in Leaflet? https://leaflet.github.io/Leaflet.markercluster/ex...
