In this price range, you can find good iron configs, but there will be an extremely poor screen.
If you plan to leave the monitor from the old large computer, then the question is removed - take any of the modern laptops suitable for the config, they are all basically about the same. That is, well, in general, according to FIG - take any asus for example - a good balance between price and quality.
But if you often use a laptop screen, then think hard about raising the price bar to at least 30-35k at least, because. otherwise there will be a screen from which your eyes will go and you will quickly get tired.
I picked up a used Mac Air in a similar situation. Now I want to buy a 15 "Pro from a friend. A strong case, not flooded, not soldered (this is me as a repairman). Excellent Apple eco system and a wonderful matrix - calibrates very well (this is me as a user). And all this wealth for completely sane money .
You should probably take a closer look at the Lenovo Z480/Z580. Respectively 14" and 15" with the same stuffing. The chipset supports processors up to Ivy Bridge. Your budget will fit 4/500/NV630 with a 2-core stump, which can always be replaced with more powerful. Good luck.
Do you even need discrete video? The bottom line is simply that in this price segment it is still rather weak for games, and if games are not needed, then it is better to take some good business-class laptop with HD3000/4000. For example HP ProBook, or ThinkPad Edge.
I have a lenovo z500 and it fits perfectly. But the battery is not removable. And the drive can be replaced with a hard drive or SSD.
