How to make a test copy of a SQL 2012 database?

It is necessary to make a test copy of the database on another server, over which analysts will conduct computational experiments. I tried to do it through Powershell and Restore-SqlDatabase, but it doesn’t work as it is stable, then it restores, then it doesn’t. Are there any other means for database mirroring that do not block work with the backup database?
