How to make a gradient with translucency in CSS?

Hello, I have a partner logo slider on the site.
Now it looks like this

. And I need to have a semi-transparent gradient hiding it.

Actually, I understand what needs to be done through after and before.
But I don’t know if it’s possible to do this in pure CSS, without images?
