How to make a frame or shadow around AlertDialog - AppCompat?

There is an AppCompat AlertDialog, how can I make a red frame or at least a shadow in its style.
Tried playing with item name="android:shadowColor"and item name="android:shadowRadius"
But it makes a shadow around the Title and text of the dialog itself.
