How to make a data cloud in JavaScript + Canvas?

You need to implement a grid like on jviewz.com/#/dna (The DNA tab).
Are there ready-made solutions for this? (The 2D option is fine too)
Found a similar thing at threejs.org/examples/#canvas_lines , but didn't figure out how to make clickable elements on dots.
