How to log CPU load?

I would like to understand what applications load the processor, whether it is enough. There is an impression that with a large number of simultaneous visitors, the site does not have enough processor power, but I don’t want to judge this by monitors like top / htop.
I would like some kind of demon that writes to the log how which process loads the processor, and then gives out some kind of summary picture.

from the minimalistic one - atop - similar to top but keeps a log that you can see later,
if something with graphs and a web interface - look at munin, zabbix, prometheus + grafana
