How to load content on button click?

Hello. I always tried to avoid ajax, but there was a problem that simply cannot be solved without it.
I read articles and watched a video about ajax, but I still can’t implement such a thing myself:
when you click on the “more” button, new content (from the database) is loaded, but without reloading the page.
If anyone has a script, please share, or throw a link to an article where they explain about it. Thanks to
