How to load a small server in the pantry?
Comrade Rzhepish has placed a small server in his pantry. The machine buzzes 24/7 (with breaks only for unscheduled power outages in the microdistrict), has a static external IP. This motor is controlled by Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
We are missing an idea.
I want to do something painfully simple, but at the same time pleasant, in the spirit of minimalism. Like a Twitter bot… Hmm.
I remember that before this very server fell into my hands, I always had some ideas for which there was simply not enough machine that would work around the clock. Now they have all mysteriously disappeared. But the habrauser will find something to advise, right?

On my server (in addition to the standard set - torrent rocking chair, samba, ftp, etc.) I made temperature monitoring on the street and video surveillance of the entrance to the house.
Deploy VDI, you will work with one profile from anywhere.
It would seem that a standard application for a storage server is a media center, and of course file storage. I myself plan to put one, only my hands will not reach.
You can also put a web server where you host your sites.
Your personal monitoring of project liveliness, with a twitter bot and SMS notifications.
Backups, rocking chair, DLNA server to watch movies on TV and mobile devices.
