How to learn to make sense?
How to learn to highlight the main thoughts of the text and succinctly enter them into the cards?
How to understand what to enter in the cards and what not?
Does not work. Either I can’t highlight the key idea at all, or I go to extremes and large pieces of text fall into the cards.
It is especially difficult from materials on management / soft skills. One water from my point of view (although I only take what others highly recommend).
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

Try to say in a nutshell (it is better to operate with your voice, and not think) what is said in the first paragraph of the text, and separately - in the second.
Then how do they differ in content. Compare paragraphs 2 and 3. In this spirit, move on in the text.
At the end of the text, summarize what it is about and how the thought developed from beginning to end.
So you will learn how to compress the text and highlight the meaning, and you will not need any cards.
Make two sets of cards - a draft and a clean copy.
First, fill out a draft, then just something like hashtags - in a clean copy.
In general, there are terms. These are words where one word contains a lot of meaning. With experience, you learn the meaning of various terms, and use them.
Too shy to ask. Did you write lecture notes at uni? It’s even more difficult there - not just from a book that you can re-read at least a hundred times, but you write from it at a pace convenient for you. But the outline is much more complicated. Just remember, restore the skill and writing a card will seem like the simplest task for you.
