How to keep content when updating a template on Word Press?
Good afternoon! I have a site on Word press, there is a lot of content, it is loaded into the plugin (that is, there are practically no separate pages and posts, the site is dedicated to culinary recipes and I loaded everything through the Recipe Marker plugin). Now I decided to buy a new theme, also a culinary one on WP, and install it. The consultant says that the plugin is compatible, but claims that all content will be lost. This is a bit of a disaster for me. Although when I updated the free template one for another, the plugin remained and the content was not lost anywhere. In general, I need the help of people who understand: what will happen to the content loaded through the plugin and how to save it? Is it possible? There is text and photos. The photo is not scary yet, I was going to compress and re-upload them anyway (different sizes and weights).

To ensure that nothing is lost when the template is updated, all entries must be in the database. Also, in a normal situation, updating the template and updating the plugin should not affect the content of the site, but they can and should affect the change in appearance, functionality, links, etc.
Personally, I didn’t use the Recipe Marker plugin, but visually it looks like the most common one - most likely it creates an additional post type, displays templates, styles and filters
. But, you must understand that no one can give you 100% correct without viewing your site advice only on your textual description. I strongly recommend that you make a backup of the site before any of your actions in order to roll back to it in case something happens
Is it in the plugin that everything is stored? Or does the plugin somehow overload directly into the topic through itself? That is - if you disable the plugin, all content disappears? Does it come back after being turned on? Then it's not clear why he would get lost when changing the topic ...
100500 pluses to the remark about backup. And there is nothing more to advise here...
=============
As a perverted idea.
The description of the plugin says that it supports the import of recipes when switching to it from some other plugin, and a list of these "others" is given. Perhaps there is one among them that also supports import from Recipe Marker? Then you can import everything into it and use it as a repository. Remake the site, turn on Recipe Marker and import again - already in the opposite direction, from the backup plugin back to Recipe Marker.
