How to keep a Google Chrome tab active?

It is necessary to maintain the "Activity" of the tab for the subsequent playback of sound on it ( for website users ). In Chrome, after a certain time, the tab "freezes" and the sound is not played if the user has not switched to it. I use the solution - playing an empty sound every 5 seconds, but it has the disadvantage of a systemic, unpleasant sound ( although it helps ).
Are there any other methods of keeping a tab active from your site for a third party user?
