How to intercept a keypress in Chrome?

Like using Chrome Ext. globally intercept keystrokes (when Chrome is running but minimized)?

No way. The keys are intercepted by the loaded page with the code, and not by Chrome itself. When you minimize a window, the page loses focus and does not receive keyboard input.
