How to install Yii2 to a non-empty folder using Composer?

Yii

I want to install yii2 using Composer.

• Created a folder
  
• Made in Composer init folder
  
• Then Composer install
  
• Then composer global require "fxp/composer-asset-plugin:^1.2.0"
  
• Now I want to download Yii to a folder so that there is a hierarchy myProject / yii files
  
• Using cd I go to the shared folder, using ls I see the folder myProject
  
• I do composer create-project --prefer-dist yiisoft/yii2-app-basic myProject
  
• But here I get an error Project directory myProject/ is not empty.
  

How to solve the problem correctly?

do create-project --prefer-dist yiisoft/yii2-app-basic myProject/yii
why mix everything together. let it lie in a separate subfolder
Well, or then transfer it with handles to a higher level, but this is strange. What for?
