How to install XAMPP on Ubuntu to access website files?
Tried installing a local XAMPP server today.
Downloaded xampp-linux-x64-7.0.5-0-installer.run Ran
it with admin rights.
As a result, the /opt/lampp/ folder appeared and the site was opened at the request of localhost/dashboard .
Then I downloaded bitnami-wordpress-4.5-1-module-linux-x64-installer.run I ran
it with administrator rights.
During installation, I specified the address /opt/lampp and selected "Development settings"
As a result, the /opt/lampp/apps/wordpress/ folder appeared and the site was opened at the request of localhost/wordpress .
All themes and plugins are installed/updated/removed without requiring a login and password to the FTP server.
And this is where the problems started:
The site files folder /opt/lampp/apps/wordpress/htdocs, which contains the site files, is closed. And in order to work with it, you need to constantly log in as a superuser. Which is not very convenient.
I tried changing the owner and permissions of /opt/lampp/apps/wordpress/htdocs and all the content. Now I can access the site as my user, but Wordpress started asking for access to the FTP server every time I try to install/update/remove a plugin or theme.
How/where to install XAMPP and Wordpress so that you don't have to log in as root every time and at the same time that the VP itself does not ask for access to the FTP server?
