How to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS alongside Windows 7 on MBR disk in Legacy mode?
There is a laptop with one physical HDD, Win 10 was on it. I rudely demolished it, put Win 7 in the BIOS - Legacy, dividing the disk into three partitions - for the Windows system, for Windows data (both NTFS) and an unallocated area for Linux . Then the LiveCD ubuntu booted up. But Ubuntu's GParted displays the entire disk as one unallocated area, while I can easily mount these partitions and move / copy data from and to them. Then I started reading in detail about MBR and GPT. Is it possible to transfer everything to GPT (I want an unlimited number of partitions) without losing data, and will ubuntu be installed there?
PS I decided everything, sorry for the trouble, it was just too late and I was worried about something. In the morning I transferred the entire disk to GPT via AOMEI, and calmly installed ubuntu. Conclusion: do nothing at night looking.
