How to install MacOS in a virtual machine?

Has anyone had a positive experience installing a normal non-buggy Mac OS on a virtual machine? I somehow installed some kind of image from the rutracker, everything hung shamelessly there. Not to mention that while I found this crooked image, I tried 5 more non-working pieces completely. Therefore questions:
1. What is better to use - VMWare or Virtualbox?
2. What verified image can you recommend?
3. Does it matter who the host is? I just have Ubuntu.

used VMWare player it's free.
I tried it with win7 and 10.
It's a pity that the Apple community does not make the OS freely available for all users. Of course, this will kill their company and poppy beeches, in fact, will practically become unnecessary. But paying such grandmas just for the sake of a "free OS" is completely for majors :(
