How to install Epson network printer in [K]Ubuntu 13.10?

Hello. Can't install Epson L550 printer on Kubunt. The printer is connected by a network cable directly to the laptop. When connected, the printer receives an IP address, which for some reason does not ping. Due to the lack of ping, of course, it is impossible to configure CUPS due to the fact that the printer, stupidly, is not visible.
The message "IP configuration was unavailable" is constantly displayed in the tray. Everything is ok
with the network card, literally a day ago I demolished the eighth venda, which instantly found the printer and even allowed printing.
Exactly the same story with setting up the printer was and is on another laptop (I sinned on the age of the laptop and, possibly, a broken network card). It has the same version of Kubunta on it.
Before trying to install the printer, of course, I downloaded the drivers from the official site and installed them.
PS. I wrote to the Epson support, they said that if the printer is given an IP address, then everything is ok with it. The problem is in the OS.

The laptop wants to get an IP via dhcp and can't. And how did you understand that the printer got its IP?
Write a static address on the laptop or connect both to a network with a working DHCP server.
