I am using the driver from the manufacturer's website. Cons should be set from the console mode, reinstalling by hand with each core. Put them to try, you can put aside Horn.conf I had problems with it because of the launch of nvidiaconfig. At the start of the x organization, it will be created automatically.
I installed it from the manufacturer's website. I read the instructions in the same place and somewhere else, collected from different sources in order to understand the principle. I have a KDE desktop environment in Debian. in the current version they have some problems with nvidia. the desktop does not load, to be more precise, the desktop is not visible, a black screen. only removing the driver and returning everything to default helped. no longer dealt with this issue. on the first 2 installations, I messed up the system, or rather I didn’t know how to roll back the changes to workable ones, I managed to change something by picking configs, but there is still not much experience and understanding of all the subtleties.
Laptop with nvidia and intel graphics most likely? Google how to install Bumblebee to work with hybrid graphics on Linux
