How to install CMAQv5.2 program on Linux Ubuntu?

tar, tar.gz, and similar archives under Linux usually distribute applications in source code.
Obviously, you need to unpack the archive and see what's there. If there is a binary - then you can immediately run it, if the source codes - read the install or readme file and follow the instructions that are written there.

Tar is just an archive, look for instructions on where to unpack it for installation if there is a program of course
