How to install an extension from a folder in Firefox?

By default, extensions in Firefox are installed from a zip archive with the .xpi. In Google Chrome, the developer mode is conveniently done, but here the torment of writing some kind of extension, each edit turns into a dreary fuss with the archive.

Tell me, is there a way to install your own extension in Firefox from a folder, and not from an archive?

"Addons and Themes" -> Gear -> "Debug Addons" -> "Load Temporary Addon" -> Poke into your manifest.json.
