How to install a new program in Windows 10 so that the old program is not affected, not updated, all settings remain in effect according to the old program?

I have the program installed. There is an update on this program, a new program. How to install a new program in Windows 10 so that the old program is not affected, not updated, all settings remain valid for the old program, but at the same time to try to use the new installed program. And if you don't like the new program, delete it, and continue using the old program, as before?

As far as I understand you need something like "sandbox". For Windows, the best option is virtual machines like VirtualBox. In it, you deploy pure Windows (you don't even have to activate it) and install your new program. You try it - you don't like it, you erase the whole virtual machine. The main system is not affected.

You can also use a different account, but some programs do not know how to store settings for each account separately, but some programs (rare) do not even allow you to select the installation folder.
And it's better to use not the entire "container with the OS" in the sense of a virtual machine, but only the "container" for the program:
Sandboxie
shadowuser
Shadow Defender
