How to insert a piece of code as text in VSCODE?

Colleagues, perhaps the question is banal, but I just can’t solve the problem of inserting code as text into a file through VSCODE.
There is an html file with markup and structure, you need to insert a piece of code that contains tags into the content part. VSCODE treats tags as tags, and it is necessary that the end user sees the paragraph with markup.
If I select the document type as TEXT, then it becomes all text, and I only need one paragraph.
Moreover, I tried it through code and through pre, vscode itself perceives tags inside these tags as tags, and not as text, and accordingly does not show them on the page.
Option to insert pictures
PS There is an option through special characters, but maybe there is another one through the vscode functionality?
