How to import large files into Adobe Premier Pro?

Adobe premier pro does not want to import an mp4 file weighing about five gigabytes. At the same time, short (and small in size) mp4 files are imported with a bang. The same video of other formats (tried avi and mov) is also not imported: it says that it was not possible to open files on the disk. Tell me how to solve this problem?
