How to host a site on github (not a directory)?

How to place a site on the git so that when you click on the link, the site itself opens and not its directory. I used to create a new storage every time, then I dropped the site files there and changed the text in the text document to "#index.html".
There were many problems, for example, when loading a new version of the site, only the directory was updated, but not the site. And now it doesn't work for some reason.
