How to get into Olympiad programming?
Good day. This year I tried my hand at the school Olympiad programming and reached the edge, but there I was beaten even by seventh-graders (the problems were for grades 9-11, I actually moved to grade 10). I used to be fond of programming in python, but ordinary and not Olympiad, and as I understand it, these are completely different things, because in the same o.programming you need not knowledge of modules and detailed syntax of the language, but algorithms, data structures, etc. Just like me understood python does not fit into this area of programming in any way, because it often does not keep up with the time / exceeds the amount of memory.
I would like to know where to get education and practice in order to calmly solve olympiad problems (I don’t know algorithms at all, I exported only on mathematical logic), and also to understand whether java is suitable for this area. I have basic knowledge in it, or it is worth learning C / C ++. To whom not laziness I ask to answer.

Solve problems, for example, on codeforce, watch reviews. But you have to like it, otherwise it's a waste of time and nerves. And it can be pleasant at first, and then turn into self-affirmation and neuroses if it doesn’t work out well enough. So without a good reason, I would not "roll in".
