How to get information about the current Windows 10 virtual desktop?

Windows 10 on PC. I have created several virtual desktops (Ctrl+Win+D). I can switch between them Ctrl+Win+LeftArrow or Ctrl+Win+RightArrow. And how to programmatically determine how many of them I have at the moment? And which one is currently active? Is this information available through the registry or maybe some system API? Sample code in C/C++ is desirable.
