How to get elementary general information knowledge without touching computer science textbooks?

Are there books or a series of them that are adequate analogues of [at least] Russian textbooks on computer science? It would be desirable that in such materials there were no comparisons of printers in terms of their economy and efficiency (for example, the textbook Ugrinovich N. D. informatics for grade 7, 2nd edition of 2015 is almost full of such materials), that is, the author would not have touched upon issues like creating text files, but the necessary things would be given. My problem is perfectionism in the field of studying the subject - I can’t just study part of the book, moving on to those chapters that I don’t understand yet, because I feel regret from losing the material.

Necessary things are a subjective category. If you know exactly the list of "necessary things" - go to Google and look for their description.

general information knowledge should be somehow formulated.
For example, the ability to read and write is general information.
The ability to use the search - general information.
I can't just go through part of the book, skipping to chapters I don't understand yet, because I feel regret at losing the material.

How exactly do you study books? reading and taking notes?
So there are thousands of such books in IT, because IT is a very large area in which there are a lot of directions. To learn general information knowledge in each direction is not an option.
Become at least an advanced user.

"Necessary things" is too vague concept, the bottom line is that for one person it is setting up a network, installing operating systems, for the second, studying various algorithms, databases, etc., for the third, working with Word / Excel / Visio, etc., so it's worth indicate what you are specifically interested in. If you need exactly precise knowledge, then it’s easier to drive in “installing Windows from a USB flash drive”, “lessons on Word / Excel / whatever”.

is an example program you can look at interesting directions
