How to get data from JSON and compare it with the data from the page?

Good afternoon, please tell me. I wrote a calendar and now I have a json file that contains information about the events, I want the name of the event and the type of event to be displayed on the calendar exactly on the day it is recorded.
I am trying to do the following: get the length of an array with all events from json and when I do this I get an error

I assume that the error is due to the fact that my buildCalendar is called before all the data from json is loaded, but how to solve this I can not understand.

It seems to me that the whole point is that you first import the contents of the file
