How to get cropped and original picture in android?

The task is to upload a photo and a preview to the server, which the user selects on the photo.
Through the MediaStore, I can get the original picture from the gallery or, if I set the parameters, cropped.
And I need to get both, and better the URI of the picture and the position and size of the cropped area.
I know that there is "com.android.camera.action.CROP" , but it doesn't work on half of the phones.
Is it really possible to do this with standard android tools, or you still need to use libraries / your bike
